Google Chrome is based on the Firefox engine. Firefox development is partially funded by Google. Should I say more? Technically Chrome is Firefox, with different skin and couple of additions. In the future they may go different ways, but at the moment I don't see the point switching to Chrome now, especially that Firefox has so many great plugins that I use.

While this is only the first version of Google’s browser, Microsoft are also set to bring out a new browser. According to Microsoft, Internet Explorer 8 will give the user more internet preferences and in particular give them more control over their personal data, perhaps keeping the edge on Google’s newest venture.

Hey Greg,

Thanks for pointing out some of the features of Google's new browser.

Does this mean that we are now going to have to design for another browser or are they using something that will render the same as one of the others out there like Firefox or something?

I downloaded Chrome last week. I like it a lot--so far. I've had issues with Firefox crashing so I hope this is better. I have Vista which stinks all around...hope Chrome is a good new choice!

I have never ever changed my web browser i've always used IE because i've been so use to it even if it was a little slow. but now Chrome in five minutes has changed my mind about browsing the web it's made it a clean neat and simple process i've always wondered why nobody made it this simple and now someone has. THANKS TO THE GOOGLE CHROME TEAM!
