StumbleUpon Adds Share

sharethis StumbleUpon Adds Share

I am not sure when this feature was added, but I just discovered it thanks to a stumbler friend of mine giving me the tip. (Thanks Roby!)

Basically all you need to do is go to your ‘favorites’ then hover over the image and then a ’share’ button appears.

From there, you can choose what friends to share with and voila!  The days of sending to one friend at a time are over.

Thank you StumbleUpon. Nice!

Woot- something to make that process less cumbersome!

Missy March 11, 2009 at 11:18 am

Very nice indeed. Thanxs for the heads up. Always nice when the tech companies improve their tech. LoL.

Missy.

Angelica March 11, 2009 at 11:23 am

THIS… is awesome.

Daniel March 11, 2009 at 11:43 am

Good stuff! :) Finally!

Nate Moller March 11, 2009 at 11:59 am

Is this a Firefox app or how does it work? Is it a setting in SU?

Doesn’t seem to be working for me.

Thanks for the feedback.

Jeff Flowers March 11, 2009 at 12:00 pm

You have NO IDEA how much time you just saved me! This is the best eNews I’ve heard all day. Gonna go test it out now.

Jen March 11, 2009 at 12:01 pm

Hmmm, I like! But so far I can only see it if I have the mini-pics enabled (to the left of blog-posts.) That’s all fine and good, but I’m not a fan of those. I tried hovering over everything else in the post, but no such luck.

I also noticed that when this blog page was sent to me (perhaps using that share message) I received an email with the information from Sharebuilder and the sender. All fine and good, except I’ve been known to get many pages sent to me each night (more so when I’m away from home and the boyfriend wants to share a page with me, since I can’t look over his shoulder!) I can’t imagine getting that many emails a night!! So, unfortunately, I chose to unsub from the email notifications. Take the good with the bad, I guess.

Anthony Kirlew March 11, 2009 at 12:13 pm

This is a much needed improvement. I just hope it does not lead to “too many shares” to respond to in a reasonable time.

Emiliano Jordan March 11, 2009 at 12:23 pm

Unfortunately this feature also sends an email to the recipient. This isn’t really acceptable to me. call me scrooge but I’m removing friends who insist on using it.

JoyceSchneider1 March 11, 2009 at 12:24 pm

Awesome! This is beyond fabulous. Makes it more immediate & fun. Thank you!

Hillary March 11, 2009 at 12:51 pm

Yay – thanks!!

Tony March 11, 2009 at 12:52 pm

I can’t get this to work, wondering maybe if it only works with MSIE and not with Firefox?

I brought up an article that I had Stumbled, then hovered over the Favorites on the SU toolbar. Nothing! Tried just about everything I can think of.

Hopefully it’s just ME having a dumb moment…

Dennis March 11, 2009 at 12:53 pm

They might have been thinking spam prevention…

Hillary March 11, 2009 at 12:54 pm

Actually I just used this feature and wanted to point out that this sends an e-mail to friends whereas the other method gives them the popup in their browser. Could have different benefits to each.

Rod Newbound March 11, 2009 at 1:05 pm

This is fabulous news. I was getting increasingly ticked off at the old “share with one friend at a time.”

Shane March 11, 2009 at 1:08 pm

Yeah that is defo a new feature, a handy one at that too!

Shane

Roxanne March 11, 2009 at 1:36 pm

Thanks for pointing that out! It will save me a lot of time!

Nate Moller March 11, 2009 at 2:02 pm

Got it to work right after the comment – feel like an idiot but whatever… Thanks! :)

Christie @ Fig & Cherry March 11, 2009 at 2:02 pm

Excellent tip! Nice work :) Thanks to you and Roby! :)

Reasonable Robinson March 11, 2009 at 2:38 pm

A good move, although like one of the commenters above I’ve been getting alot of e-mails through too…

Brian March 11, 2009 at 2:58 pm

The main developers regularly post new changes and updates here:

http://stumbleupon.group.stumbleupon.com/forum/

You can also beta test stumbleupon changes by joining:

http://beta.group.stumbleupon.com/

If you have problems with the Firefox Toolbar, he stumbleupon developer responsible for it reads and posts here:

http://firefox.group.stumbleupon.com/forum/

Lots of SU information is available directly from the SU pages, so there is never a reason to say wow, I didn’t know about that. :)

Tony March 11, 2009 at 4:16 pm

I got it – for anyone else who gets stuck, just view your favorites list, then hover over the image to the left of a post and the Share button will appear.

I was viewing a page that I had favorited, and hovering over “Favorites” on the SU toolbar.

It’s all in the interpretation of the instructions.

Gerald Weber March 11, 2009 at 4:39 pm

Thanks goodness. I am so grateful for this. I wonder how this is going to be taken into account with the SU algorithm.

Weird eBay Listings March 11, 2009 at 6:15 pm

I’m so glad they finally did this. I guess they finally realized that users usually send shares to more than one person.

Cat March 11, 2009 at 8:45 pm

If anyone is not pleased with their email box full of shared stumbles, you can opt out of it by clicking on “If you do not wish to receive emails sent by your friends via StumbleUpon, please click here. Visit our Privacy Policy if you have any questions”…

You will still receive your PM messages (as a sponsor) and not the stumbles!

Nairobian Perspective March 11, 2009 at 9:07 pm

that i really cool , im just out to check it out!

Sandra March 12, 2009 at 1:08 am

I found it didn’t work going to favorites but will work if you go to recent shares :) …makes life alot easier

suzieblu March 12, 2009 at 2:22 am

spellathon March 12, 2009 at 4:27 am

WoW, for so long I was waiting for this thing to come up… Great work SU. and Nice share.

digitaldreus March 12, 2009 at 4:52 am

Hey bro

Roby put me down, but it’s a nice step in the right direction now if the lazy asses would apply some of the base apps that every other site gives like chat and the sort maybe I’ll stay on longer.

But one small step fo stumble kind hahahahaha

Anukul March 12, 2009 at 5:13 am

This is Fantastic !!

teasastips March 12, 2009 at 6:38 am

Just what we needed … great news.

Thanks for the tip

Diana Freedman March 12, 2009 at 10:13 am

Awesome, thanks for sharing.

Now if only someone would develop a Wordpress plugin that showed a counter of how many people have stumbled each article…

Gerald Weber March 12, 2009 at 10:14 am

IT’s about time. It will be interesting to see how is received by Stumblers. I have noticed already I am getting sent a lot more stuff through the stumble toolbar.

Jones March 12, 2009 at 10:20 am

Thanks for sharing about stumbling sharing the love

Stephan Miller March 12, 2009 at 11:47 am

Yee Ha, fill inboxes with as much SU shares as Digg ones.

Scout's Honor March 12, 2009 at 1:58 pm

lilanglfyer March 12, 2009 at 4:41 pm

Simply Ridiculous March 12, 2009 at 8:05 pm

They were probably holding this back to prevent spamming.. Looks like now it would be much easier to share.. But will have to deal with a lot of spam messages too..

Nick Stamoulis March 13, 2009 at 8:47 am

StumbleUpon is def. a great area to build up traffic for your site. It works great on some and work unbelievable with others.

Carolyn Rodgers March 14, 2009 at 9:16 am

Linda Vuorela March 15, 2009 at 6:53 am
